Rob to attend the LA Breaking Dawn Convention – did we hear that right?

Yesterday, Cullyn and I were having a fantastic day at the Baltimore Twilight Convention when it was time to gather for the much-anticipated auction session. During the auction, Creation Entertainment offers Twilight Saga items ranging from action figures to the coveted convention banners for fans to bid on and take home. At the last LA TwiCon in March we scored a great deal on a Volturi banner ($70!) , so we were primed for bidding battle!

After about 15 minutes, the host/auctioneer decided it was time for a Robert Pattinson banner to go up for auction. For the prior banners, he threw in an autograph ticket so the celebrity guests at the Baltimore event could sign them…making the items even more valuable! When talking about the RPatz banner, the auctioneer casually said, “Unfortunately, Rob is not here to sign it, but he will be at our Century City event.” The Breaking Dawn Convention on 11/4 – 11/6 is being held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in the Century City area of Los Angeles!

Surprisingly, there wasn’t a huge reaction from the crowd, which made Cullyn and I look at each other and ask, “Did we just hear that?” Then someone from the back of the room yelled, “Would he sign it there?” At that point, we knew we heard him right. (BTW – the auctioneer did not respond to that person’s question, and no autograph ticket was provided.)

Earlier in the day, the host/auctioneer asked if anyone was attending the LA event, and we were only part of a handful of people to raise ours hands (and cheer). Plus, there weren’t a ton of people in the auction session. So, we attributed the lack of reaction to the Rob news to those two things.

Also, there was no mention of Kristen Stewart or Taylor Lautner attending the Breaking Dawn Convention, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t gong to be there…just that the auctioneer didn’t say anything about them.

So, we are super psyched! Of course, this comes with the caveat that Summit has not confirmed this news!

Did RPatz steal from his friend?

Submitted to HULIQ by Jane Lasky on 2011-08-27

Multi-talented Robert Pattinson is many things, but a thief? Not so, even though some sources are hinting at the idea that the Twilight Saga star may possibly have “stolen” a song from his friend – “stolen” being used in a very loose sense of the word.

It seems that a while back, Robert Pattinson was hanging out with mate Marcus Foster. The guys were reportedly together in a pub, when the two “sang [I Was Broken] …. and someone recorded it on their phone.” Sounds convoluted, with maybe a jealousy tinge. But let’s look at the alleged situation:

Apparently, that recording landed on the ether, and before either singer realized what was happening, the song went viral on the Internet.

Turns out the song in question — ironically dubbed I Was Broken – eventually ended up on the Twilight sound track and the rest is history as Pattinson has been able to add accomplished musician to his ample resume as rarefied thespian du jour and big time Hollywood hunk.

But did Robert Pattinson end up stealing the song from Marcus Foster? It seems that answer would be a big negative. In fact, the song in question, one that Foster claims is his, is voiced as such. On the track, as linked here, RPatz says the tune is by Marcus Foster. Credit is given where credit is due.

Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson serves as a great ambassador for the song he and Marcus Foster worked out. Indeed, as a perk of their pub work, I Was Broken has become famous — with no apparent stealing involved in the process.

Robert Pattinson is Now an “Unbound Captive”

Hugh Jackman - Rachel Weisz - Robert Pattinson

The Sexiest Man Alive, one of the most talented actresses working today and a Twilight heartthrob are being brought together for a period-drama. Hugh JackmanRachel Weisz and Robert Pattinson (Twilighters go crazy… now!) will star in the 19th century set film Unbound Captives, which is the directorial debut of actress Madeleine Stowe.

The script was co-written by Stowe along with husband Brian Benben back in the early ’90s, but the film never got made after Stowe declined a $5 million deal because she wanted to star in the lead female role herself. Fast forward 15 years, after realizing she would never be able to star in the role, she cast Weisz in the role she originally wanted, and decided to go ahead and direct the film herself.

Weisz will play a woman whose husband is killed and her two children kidnapped by a Comanche war party in 1859. She is rescued by a frontiersman, to be played by Jackman. Pattinson will play [one of] the son[s].

The reason Stowe originally turned down the $5 million (one of the highest amounts offered to a first time screenwriter at the time) was because she didn’t want to be “just the screenwriter.” The project was originally planned to be directed by Ridley Scott and starRussell Crowe in the role Jackman will now play.

Were you crazy, Madeleine?!

In speaking out about her refusing the money (the first time she has done so), Stowe said:

“There was never a moment’s hesitation on my part, but it felt unreal, and I can remember my husband putting a finger across his neck to signal not to take the offer… There are moments in life where you need to follow your heart. The script remained my singular focus, but directing it myself wasn’t something I ever dreamed of.”

“Gil [Netter - producer] made me realize it when he said there isn’t anyone who’s going to make the movie you want to make… I saw three actresses, and knew after meeting with Rachel that she was the person I wanted to hand this role to,” she said. “Robert said yes last fall, before everything broke with ‘Twilight.’ Hugh said yes a couple of weeks ago.”

To help Stowe with her first time directing a feature film, cinematographer John Toll will be photographing the film. He was responsible for how films like BraveheartThe Thin Red LineThe Last Samurai and the recent Tropic Thunder looked. Captives is sure to follow the gorgeously shot nature of those movies.

The film has a great cast, an interesting story that has potential to be very compelling, a great cinematographer has been brought on-board and it’s written by a genuinely talented actress (that doesn’t mean she’ll be a good director, but it’s at least encouraging) – I don’t see any reason not to look forward to this one.

Do you like the sound of Unbound Captives? What do you make of that wicked trio that’s been assembled?

Unbound Captives will be put into production by Hyde Park Entertainment at the end of the year.

My Name is Not Edward: Meet Robert Pattinson Lookalike Ian Barnes

Meet Ian Barnes – a welder, musician…and Edward Cullen lookalike. Ian is such a dead-ringer for Robert Pattinson that even the actor’s father did a double-take at a Twilight movie premiere that his son and his double attended!

What do you think?

Photo from TrueBloodTwilight.

So, how did Ian sink his teeth into this unusual opportunity? After the Twilight movie came out, a good friend (who was born and raised in Forks, oddly enough) told Ian that he resembled one of the actors, which he initially dismissed. However, once New Moon hit theaters, Ian knew he had to capitalize on his uncanny resemblance to RPatz. So, what did he do? Ian published the term “twi-dentified” in UrbanDictionary.com and headed to Forks, of course!

Ian recalls thinking, “I’ve got to go to Forks. That’s where it’s at!” And he was right.

Anointing himself “the world’s most Twi-dentified man,” Ian definitely turns heads while strolling down the town’s Main Street, prompting photo-ops with visiting TwiHards. He’s also partnered with Team Forks Twilight Tours to surprise passengers because, as Ian puts it, “That’s actually the best part, making someone’s day.”

Last summer the Robert Pattinson doppelganger opened a photo op business in Forks. Not surprisingly, women happily paid Ian ten dollars to vamp it up in a picture with them.

Despite his “twi-dentified” success, once the sun sets on The Twilight Saga, Ian ultimately wants to pursue other interests as himself; specifically, published author. “It doesn’t interest me to be a lookalike in an agency or some impersonator or tribute artist.”

Twilight Saga Celebs on the Teen Choice Awards Red (Blue) Carpet

The Teen Choice Awards live-streamed the red (blue) carpet arrivals of the stars and subsequent quippy interviews via teenchoiceawards.com tonight. Here are the highlights from The Twilight Saga actors.

First up was Bronson Pelletier. When asked if he could provide any spoilers about Breaking Dawn – Part 1, he responded “well, there might be a wedding…and a rattle may be involved.” He talked about doing stunts as a wolf but how most of the scenes were done in CGI.

Ashley Greene arrived next and shared that she began her day with fro yo and the Veggie Grille. AFter a few years attending Teen Choice awards, it’s now “fun, not stressful.” When asked about how she felt about being nominated for Choice Scene Stealer, she said it’s weird being nominated with her best friend Kellan. Like Bronson, Ashley was tight-lipped about any spoilers, only sharing that she thought, “the wedding scene was magical…beautiful and kind of perfect.” Ashley liked that it rained before the big wedding shoot and it made everything “look dewey.”

Taylor Lautner answered a Twitter fan question about whether he’d want to be Jacob in real life. He responded, “Yes. Jacob’s a cool guy…as long as I could go from werewolf and back – I find something cool about that.” Next, Taylor explained that it was the right thing to do to split Breaking Dawn into two movies.

Then they showed Nikki Reed in front of the paparazzi on the blue carpet.

Rob and Kristen were nowhere to be found.
